Preparing young people for growth and change is more important than teaching them how to make a decision. (Van Vianen et al. 2009)
...IEP goes from strength to strength
...So the ERSA national conference was held yesterday in London. It was very well attended and it seemed to me that delegates were both supported and challenged during what was a very engaging and often inspirational event.
...In the last few months the DWP have been asking providers of the Work Programme to establish new, innovate and creative ways of delivering their services. At a time when the economy is struggling, putting clients into sustainable employment is becoming more and more difficult, making innovation and change even more challenging.
...I am delighted to announce the appointment of Stuart Knowles to the role of interim Business Development Director at the IEP. Stuart's role is to build the IEP's membership and work with me to develop IEP’s membership services to support members and bring more credibility and professionalism to the sector.
...I am very proud to have been asked to be the Chair of the Compliance Committee by the Interim Board of the Institute of Employability Professionals and I wanted to tell you a little bit about its work here in this blog. As well as explaining why we have a Compliance Committee and what it’s for I am making a direct appeal to you for support. Ideally we need 6-10 members of the Institute, reflecting all our levels (Associate, Member and Fellow), to sit on the Committee as it is important that the Committee properly represents the demographics of our membership.
...Dear IEP Members!
...There is a raging debate going on at the moment regarding zero hour contracts. Two sides of the argument were discussed on BBC Newsnight in Allegra Strattons’ report ‘Do zero hour contracts create jobs?’
...Over the past few weeks, we have been processing the first applications for IEP membership and welcome packs are being posted to successful applicants. Several companies including ESG, Advance and JHP are extremely proactive in encouraging their staff to join IEP and I am setting up events to meet members around the UK.
...At the end of my first moth I feel that I have got to grips with my position and the various websites and social media sites I am using and am in charge of! Our certificates finally arrived on Wednesday so we immediately started preparing the packs for those members who had already paid so if you have paid expect your pack soon!
...It has been an incredible four and a half weeks with IEP, starting with a bang with the IEP’s launch at w2w 2012 in Birmingham. The ribbon was cut, the big blue badges were a great success and we have met tons of incredible and passionate people who want to make a difference.
...Hi Readers
...Having finished my first week with the IEP I am exhausted but exhilarated. It has been hectic from the word go but in a good way! We have installed our CRM system so that we can process and manage our applications more easily. I have set up a Flickr account, a LinkedIn business page, and tweeted every day. I have also been put in charge of our e-newsletter (watch this space) and have been gathering stories and information for our first edition.
...I have been reflecting on the fact that IEP is an organisation for individuals who help others. Whilst IEP enjoys the backing of leading employers who have become Founding Patrons, IEP's role is to equip individuals working in the Employment Related Services (ERS)/Employability sector with professional status and help them deliver better outcomes for their custumers. It's also about instiling a sense of pride.
...I have just become aware of a small technical fault in the IEP membership application process. Sicne the site is brand new, we expect to come across some issues. So if you have recently applied for membership of IEP and you are experiencing any difficulty working through the site, please e-mail me on declan@iemployability.org and I will be very happy to help.
Following months of hard work by the Shadow Board and members of the IEP team, we have now launched the first interation of the IEP's website. We have already received many enquiries and the very first membership applications are coming in.
...Hi! I'm Declan Swan and I am the new (and first Director) of the IEP. This is my blog and I have a few thoughts I'd like to share at the outset. If you have any views, please let me know.
...Welcome to my first blog for the Institute of Employability Professionals. What an exciting time in the development of our sector this is! At last workers across Employment Related Services are able to achieve professional standards and gain the benefits of their own professional institute.
